Who we are

Lectura ("we", "us", "our") is a language learning tool that rewrites real news articles at your CEFR level. Our website is https://getlectura.com.

What data we collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide the service:

• Email address — used to create and authenticate your account via passwordless (magic link) sign-in. We do not store passwords.
• Reading activity — articles you convert, reading events, and streak data, used to show your progress dashboard.
• URLs and text you submit — article URLs or pasted text you provide for conversion. These are processed and stored so you can re-read them later.
• Billing information — if you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
• Usage data — basic logs (request timestamps, error rates) used for debugging and reliability. These are not linked to your identity.

How we use your data

• To authenticate you and keep your account secure
• To convert articles and store them in your personal feed
• To display your reading stats and streak
• To process subscription payments via Stripe
• To respond to support requests you send us

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Lectura:

• Supabase — database and authentication (EU region)
• Stripe — payment processing
• Google Gemini — AI model used to rewrite article text
• ElevenLabs — text-to-speech audio generation
• Vercel — hosting and serverless infrastructure

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and processes data according to their terms.

Cookies and local storage

Lectura uses browser local storage to remember your theme preference (light/dark) and to cache your authentication session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics scripts.

Data retention

Your account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised usage logs may be retained longer for operational purposes.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@getlectura.com.

Children

Lectura is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Lectura after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
